In this Part, unless the context otherwise requires—

• F1“Chief Inspector” has the meaning given by section 43A(6),

• F1“Chief Officer” means the person appointed under paragraph 7 of schedule 1A,

• “emergency” means an event or situation that causes or is likely to cause—

  1. a

     a person to die;

  2. b

     a person to suffer serious—

     1. i

        injury; or

     2. ii

        illness; or

  3. c

     serious harm to the environment (including the life and health of plants and animals and the fabric of buildings);

• “extinguishing”, in relation to a fire, includes containing and controlling;

• F1“framework document” means the document prepared under, and having effect by virtue of, section 40,

• F1“Inspector” has the meaning given by section 43A(6),

• “road” has the same meaning as in Part 4 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (c. 22).
