A party may appeal to the Outer House against the tribunal’s award on the ground that the tribunal erred on a point of Scots law (a “legal error appeal”).

An agreement between the parties to disapply rule 51(2)(c) by dispensing with the tribunal’s duty to state its reasons for its award is to be treated as an agreement to exclude the court’s jurisdiction to consider a legal error appeal.
