PART XVMISCELLANEOUS
Interpretation
140.—(1) In these Regulations the following expressions shall have the following meanings respectively:—
“automatic weighing machine” means
“beam scale” means
“capacity” means
“counter machine” means
“dead-weight machine” means
such an instrument with the weighing platform near to the ground and with the connecting stays or hooks above the beam and commonly known as a low pattern machine or cotton machine;
such an instrument with the weighing platform at any convenient height and with the connecting stays or hooks below the beam, and commonly known as a high pattern machine or single machine;
such an instrument which combines the characteristics of the instruments in (a) and (b) above, and commonly known as a double machine;
“error”
“weighing instrument” means
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
Citation and commencement
141. These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures Regulations 1963 and shall come into operation on the 31st January 1964.
