The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (Commencement) Order 1982

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 20(3) of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (Commencement) Order 1982.

2.  Part II (“Supply of Services”) of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 together with so much of sections 18 and 19 of the Act as relates to that Part shall come into operation on 4th July 1983.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation on 4th July 1983 Part II of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, which relates to the supply of services, together with so much of sections 18 and 19 of that Act as relates to that Part (these sections relate to the interpretation of certain words and phrases used in the Act).

The remainder of the Act comes into operation, by virtue of section 20(3), on 4th January 1983. The whole Act will thus be in operation on 4th July 1983.

By virtue of section 20(5), no provision of the Act applies to a contract made before the provision comes into operation.
