The Food Standards Act 1999 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2000

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 43(2) of the Food Standards Act 1999(1), hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Food Standards Act 1999 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2000.

2.  All provisions of the Food Standards Act 1999 which are not already in force, or which are in force for a particular purpose only, or in relation to Scotland and Wales only, shall come into force or, as the case may be, come into force for all other purposes, or in relation to England and Northern Ireland as well, on 1st April 2000.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings the Food Safety Act 1999 into force, in so far as it is not already in force.

Section 43 of, and paragraph 6(2) and (5) of Schedule 5 to, the Food Standards Act 1999 came into force when the Act obtained Royal Assent.

Certain other provisions of the Act were brought into force, or brought into force for particular purposes, on 11th January 2000 by the Food Standards Act 1999 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/92 (C. 2)).
