Section 6.1—Paper, Pulp and Board Manufacturing Activities
Part A(1)
(a)

Producing in industrial plant pulp from timber or other fibrous materials.

(b)

Producing in industrial plant paper and board where the plant has a production capacity of more than 20 tonnes per day.

(c)

Any activity associated with making paper pulp or paper, including activities connected with the recycling of paper such as de-inking, if the activity may result in the release into water of any substance listed in paragraph 13 of Part 2 of this Schedule in a quantity which, in any period of 12 months, is greater than the background quantity by more than the amount specified in that paragraph in relation to that substance.

Interpretation of Part A(1)

In paragraph (c), “paper pulp” includes pulp made from wood, grass, straw and similar materials and references to the making of paper are to the making of any product using paper pulp.
