Amendment of the principal Regulations

2.  After regulation 5 of the principal Regulations (provision of information), insert—

The Office for National Statistics - provision of information

5A.(1) The Office for National Statistics(1)

(a)shall be provided with such—

(i)information recorded in the register,

(ii)extracts from the register, or

(iii)copies of the register or of extracts from it,

as are in its opinion necessary for the purposes of producing pension statistics; and

(b)may inspect—

(i)the register,

(ii)extracts from the register, or

(iii)copies of the register or of extracts from it,

when in its opinion, such inspection is necessary for the purposes of producing pension statistics.

(2) When information is disclosed in accordance with paragraph (1), section 82(2) of the Act (restricted information – prohibition on disclosure) shall apply as if the words “and regulations made under section 61” were inserted after “and 235” in paragraph (b)..
