Coming into operation
WHEREAS the Temporary Speed Limit (Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 19961 prohibits the driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 50 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to that Order, and prohibits the driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on the roads and lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to that Order, for a period of 4 months from 28th December 1996;
AND WHEREAS the Department of the Environment is satisfied that it is desirable in the interests of safety to continue to restrict the speed of motor vehicles on those roads and lengths of road;
NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 51(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 19812 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Temporary Speed Limit (Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 29th April 1997.
Continuance in force of provisions of S.R. 1996 No. 5352
The provisions of Articles 2 and 3 of the Temporary Speed Limit (Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 are hereby continued in force for a period of 4 months from 28th April 1997.
