Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 50(4)(a) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 28th May 1997.

Increase of speed limit

2.  The rate of speed fixed by Article 50(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 shall be increased from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour in relation to the restricted roads specified in the Schedule.

Article 2

SCHEDULERestricted roads on which the speed limit is increased from 30 mph to 40 mph

1.  Cromkill Road, Route C47, Ballymena, from its junction with Toome Road, Route B18, to a point approximately 380 metres south-east of that junction.

2.  Toome Road, Route B18, Ballymena, from a point approximately 130 metres south-west of its junction with Camphill Park, to its junction with Old Tullygarley Road.

3.  Tullygarley Road, Route C47, Ballymena, from its junction with Old Tullygarley Road, to its junction with Toome Road, Route B18.

4.  Moneynick Road, Route A6, Toome, from a point approximately 110 metres south-east of its junction with Shore Road, Unclassified No. 1024, to a point approximately 100 metres east of its junction with Staffordstown Road, Route C52.

5.  Larne Road, Route A2, Whitehead, from a point approximately 100 metres north-west of its junction with Slaughterford Road, to a point approximately 870 metres south-east of that junction.

6.  Rawbrae Road, Unclassified No. 14, Whitehead.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order increases from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour the speed limit on the restricted roads specified in the Schedule.
