The Social Security Administration (Fraud) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(2) of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 specified in the Schedule to this Order is 1st July 1997.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order brings into operation on 1st July 1997 the following provisions of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997—

Articles 3 and 4 which relate to the supply and use of information;

Articles 5 to 9 which relate to the administration of housing benefit;

Article 11 which relates to the appointment of inspectors by the Housing Executive;

Articles 12 and 13 which relate to offences;

Article 16 which relates to reviews in connection with attendance allowance, disability living allowance and disability working allowance;

Article 17 which relates to medical examinations in connection with attendance allowance and disability working allowance;

Paragraphs 2 to 4, 6 and 7(b) and (c) of Schedule 1 (minor and consequential amendments) and Article 19(1) in so far as it relates to those paragraphs;

Schedule 2 (repeals) and Article 19(2) in so far as it relates to that Schedule.
