1. These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 1st June 1999.
2. In paragraph 2 of Schedule 3 to the Legal Advice and Assistance Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1981(3) after sub-paragraph (j) there shall be added the following sub-paragraph—
“(k)for a sex offender order under Article 6 of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1998(4)”.

These Regulations amend the Legal Advice and Assistance Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1981 to extend assistance by way of representation to proceedings in a court of summary jurisdiction brought for an order under Article 6 of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
