Coming into operation
The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety1, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 56, 106(b) and 107(6) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 19722 and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and in conjunction with the Department of Finance and Personnel and after consultation with such organisations as appear to the Department to be representative of the medical profession, as required by Article 56(5) of that Order, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the General Medical Services (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2003.

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the General Medical Services Regulations (Northern Ireland) 19973.
Amendment of the principal Regulations2

In the principal Regulations, Schedule 2 (terms of service for Doctors) shall be amended as follows.

After paragraph 56 of Schedule 2 (annual reports), insert the following paragraph–
Appraisal Scheme56A
A doctor shall participate in the appraisal scheme provided by the Board.
