Coming into operation

1st June 2003

The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(5) of the Lands Tribunal and Compensation Act (Northern Ireland) 1964(1) and section 18 of the Administrative and Financial Provisions Act (Northern Ireland) 1962(2) and now vested in it(3) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Title and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2003.

Revocation

2.  The Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001(4) is hereby revoked.

Increases in salaries

3.—(1) The annual salary payable to the President of the Lands Tribunal shall be increased as follows –

(a)from £99,420 to £102,999 from 1st April 2002;

(b)from £102,999 to £110,362 from 1st April 2003.

(2) The annual salary payable to any other member of the Lands Tribunal shall be increased as follows –

(a)from £95,666 to £99,110 from 1st April 2002;

(b)from £99,110 to £106,195 from 1st April 2003.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for changes in the annual salaries payable to members of the Lands Tribunal for Northern Ireland following recommendations made in the Report of the Review Body on Senior Salaries in 2002 (HMSO CM 5389-1) and the Report of the Review Body on Senior Salaries in 2003 (HMSO CM 5718).

It increases, with retrospective effect from under section 18 of the Administrative and Financial Provisions Act (Northern Ireland) 1962, the annual salary of the President of the Lands Tribunal and all other members of the Tribunal.

The increases take effect in two stages. The first increases apply in relation to the period from 1st April 2002 to 31st March 2003. The salaries are then further increased with effect from 1st April 2003.

Article 2 revokes the Lands Tribunal (Salaries) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001.
