Statutory Rules of Northern Ireland
JUSTICE

4th September 2003
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 87 and 89(1) of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002(1), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2003.
2.—(1) The following provisions of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 shall come into force on 1st October 2003.
(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) above are –
section 86 (repeals) to the extent necessary to bring into force the provision of Schedule 13 (repeals) specified below; and
Schedule 13, in the entry in respect of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 1978(2), the repeal of section 75(3).
3.—(1) The following provisions of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 shall come into force on 1st November 2003.
(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) above are –
section 77 (proceedings before coroner);
section 85 (minor and consequential amendments) to the extent necessary to bring into force the provision of Schedule 12 (minor and consequential amendments) specified below; and
paragraph 17 of Schedule 12.
4.—(1) The following provisions of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002 shall come into force on 19th April 2004.
(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) above are –
section 74 (appeals in small claims cases); and
section 75 (time limit for cases stated by county court).
(3) The amendments made by sections 74 and 75 to the County Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1980(3) shall not apply to proceedings commenced before 19th April 2004.
