Air Quality (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003

Coming into operation

1st January 2004

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 15(1) and (2) of the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, having consulted such competent authorities as the Department considered appropriate, such bodies or persons which appeared to it to be representative of the interests of industry as it considered appropriate and such other bodies or persons as it considered appropriate, in accordance with Article 15(6) of that Order, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Air Quality (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2004.

Amendment

2.  In the Schedule to the Air Quality Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003(2) in the entry relating to Sulphur dioxide in column (2) for “35μg/m3” there shall be substituted “350μg/m3”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Air Quality Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 in order to correct a drafting error. The air quality objective for Sulphur dioxide is increased from 35μg/m3 to 350μg/m3.
