Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Health Services (Primary Care) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004.

(2) In this Order:

“the 1997 Order” means the Health Services (Primary Care) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.

Appointed days

2.—(1) The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 21 of the 1997 Order (Provision of personal medical services or personal dental services), in so far as it relates to the provision of personal medical services and Article 22 of the 1997 Order (Supplementary regulations) is 1st April 2004.

(2) 1st April 2004 is the day appointed for the coming into operation of Schedule 2 to the 1997 Order insofar as those provisions relate to –

(a)the insertion in Article 2(2) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972(3) of the definitions of “health services body” and “statutory provision”; and

(b)the amendments to Article 10 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1991(4).

Revocation

3.  Article 3(2) of the Health Services (Primary Care) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998(5) is hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order brings into operation on 1st April 2004 certain provisions of the Health Services (Primary Care) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, namely Article 21 (Provision of personal medical services or dental services), but only in so far as it refers to personal medical services, Article 22 (Supplementary regulations) and Schedule 2, in so far as the amendments in that Schedule are relevant to those provisions.
