EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES

These Regulations implement Council Directive 2001/86/EC supplementing the Statute for a European Company with regard to the involvement of employees (‘the Directive’) and also make provision for the parts of Council Regulation 2157/2001 on the Statute for a European Company (‘the Regulation’) which permit or oblige Member States to make certain provisions in their national law including provision for the effective application of the Regulation.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and the Department for Employment and Learning, being Departments designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to measures relating to the registration, operation and regulation of European public limited liability companies, and in relation to measures relating to the information and consultation of employees, acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the said section 2(2) and of every other power enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
