PENSIONS

These Regulations are made as a consequence of provisions in the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 2005 (“the 2005 Order”) and relate to the winding up of occupational pension schemes. Regulations 3 to 13 and most of the amendments made by the other provisions do not apply in the case of schemes that have begun to wind up before 6th April 2005.

Coming into operation in accordance with regulation 1(2)

The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by sections 5, 21(2), 93(1), (2)(b) and (3), 97I, 97L, 109 and 178(3) of the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 19931, Articles 49(2)(b), 56(3), 57(1) and (5), 68(2)(e), 73(2)(b), (6), (7) and (9), 73A(7), (8)(a) and (b) and (10), 73B(4), (5) and (8), 74(2) and (3)(e), 76(2), 89(5)(c), 115(1)(a) and (b), 116, 121(8) and 166(1) to (3) of the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 19952 and Articles 27 and 73(4) of, and paragraph 8(1) of Schedule 5 to, the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 19993, and now vested in it4, and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
