The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 5 of the Pharmacy (Northern Ireland) Order 1976(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the approval of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety(2) hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2005.
(2) In these Regulations “the principal regulations” means the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994(3).
2. In regulation 2 of the principal regulations (registration fees) for “£150” there shall be substituted “£217” and for “£100” there shall be substituted “£145”.
3. In regulation 3 of the principal regulations (restoration fees) for “£57” there shall be substituted “£87”.
4. In regulation 4 of the principal regulations (retention fees) –
(a)in paragraph (1)(a) for “£170” there shall be substituted “£245”;
(b)in paragraph (2)(a) for “£78” there shall be substituted “£113”;
(c)in paragraph (2)(b) for “£62” there shall be substituted “£90”;
(d)in paragraph (2)(c) for “£28” there shall be substituted “£41”.

These Regulations amend the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994 (S.R. 1994 No. 202) by increasing fees payable in respect of –
(a)registration as a pharmaceutical chemist and as a student (regulation 2);
(b)restoration of a person’s name to the register (regulation 3);
(c)retention fees payable in respect of members of the Society (regulation 4);
S.I. 1976/1213 (N.I. 22) relevant amending instruments are 1981 c. 55 and S.I. 1994/429 (N.I. 2)
S.I. 1999/283 (N.I. 1) – Article 3(6)
S.R. 1994 No. 202 relevant amending instruments are S.R. 2002 No. 206 and S.R. 2003 No. 356
