This is the first Commencement Order to be made under the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (“the Order”). The Order extensively amends the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (“the 1995 Act”).
The provisions referred to in Article 2 of this Order are brought into operation on 3rd July 2006.
Article 2(1) brings into operation Article 16(2) and paragraph 22(1) to (3) and (5) of Schedule 1, concerning codes of practice.
Article 2(1) also brings into operation various minor amendments and repeals to the 1995 Act.
Article 2(2) brings into operation, for the purpose only of exercising any power to make regulations, orders or rules of court, a number of provisions amending the 1995 Act.
