The Department for Social Development makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 60(1) of the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform (2007 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007.
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of section 52 of, and Schedule 6 to, the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007—
(a)for the purpose only of authorising the making of an order, is 19th July 2007; and
(b)for all other purposes, is 10th August 2007.

This Order provides for the coming into operation of section 52 of, and Schedule 6 to, the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007 (provision relating to “relevant employer” for the purposes of the Pneumoconiosis, etc., (Workers’ Compensation) (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 (S.I. 1979/925 (N.I. 9))) on 19th July 2007 for the purpose only of authorising the making of an order and 10th August 2007 for all other purposes.
