The Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2009

Coming into operation1st October 2009

The Department of the Environment makes the following By-Laws in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 19811.

Citation and commencement1

These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 1^st October 2009.

By-Laws amended2

In the Schedule to the By-Laws made in respect of Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4^th June 19512 for the entry for Glengall Street substitute—

GLENGALL
STREET
North Side: from a point 31 metres east of the east kerbline of Durham Street for a distance of 14 metres. Carriages shall stand in a single line by the kerbline and parallel therewith, facing east.

South Side: from a point 73 metres east of the east kerbline of Durham Street for a distance of 32 metres. Carriages shall stand in a single line by the kerbline and parallel therewith, facing east.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the By-Laws)

These By-Laws amend the Schedule to the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) By-Laws made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4^th June 1951 by—

a

altering the position of the taxi stand on the south side of Glengall Street and decreasing the number of taxis which may stand from 6 to 5; and

b

making provision for a new taxi stand on the north side of Glengall Street.
