Public Authorities Reform

The Public Authorities (Reform) (2009 Act) (Commencement No.1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 7(1) of the Public Authorities (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009(1), makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Public Authorities (Reform) (2009 Act) (Commencement No.1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Public Authorities (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009.

Appointed Day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Act is 1st June 2009 —

(a)Section 1 (abolition of the Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland and transfer of its functions to the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure);

(b)Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 1 (transfer of assets, liabilities, staff, etc. and amendments relating to the abolition of the Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland);

(c)Section 3 (repeal of statutory provisions following the winding up of the Northern Ireland Pig Production Development Committee);

(d)Section 5 (repeal of statutory provisions following the dissolution of the Laganside Corporation);

(e)Section 6 and Schedule 3 (repeals) except to the extent that they repeal entries relating to the Disability Living Allowance Advisory Board for Northern Ireland and Enterprise Ulster.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Public Authorities (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009—

(i)Section 1 and Parts 1 and 2 of Schedule 1 relating to the abolition of the Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland and transfer of its functions to the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure; and

(ii)Sections 3, 5, and 6 and Schedule 3 relating to repeals of statutory provisions except to the extent that they relate to the Disability Living Allowance Advisory Board for Northern Ireland and Enterprise Ulster.
