The Department of the Environment makes the following Bye-Laws in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).

Citation and commencement

1.  These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Taxis (Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush) (Amendment) Bye-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 12th October 2009.

Bye-Laws amended

2.  For the Schedule to the Taxis (Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush) Bye-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1999(2) substitute—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Bye-Laws)

These Bye-Laws substitute the Schedule to the Taxis (Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush) Bye-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1999 and—

(a)prescribe the locations of taxi stands or starting places, the maximum number of taxis which may use these stands or starting places and the hours available for use in the local government district of Coleraine in the towns of—

(i)Coleraine at Railway Place, Railway Road, North Rampart, The Mall and Captain Street Lower;

(ii)Portstewart at The Promenade and The Diamond;

(iii)Portrush at Eglinton Street; and

(b)remove the taxi stands at—

(i)Railway Place on the south side from a point approximately 5 metres east of its junction with Railway Road for a distance of approximately 51 metres; and

(ii)Eglinton Street on the east side from a point approximately 15 metres south of its junction with Dunluce Avenue for a distance of approximately 17 metres.
