The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 61(1), 66(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2009.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985

2.  In the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985(2) for Schedule 7 substitute—

Regulations 4A(1), 5(3),9(2), (3), (5) and (6), and 12(1)

SCHEDULE 7FEES FOR VEHICLE LICENCES

1.Fee payable with initial application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 5(3))
(a)Buses—
Class I£90.50
Class II£90.50
Class III£90.50
Class IA£102.50
Class IIA£115.00
Class IIIA£127.00
(b)Taxi£138.50
2.Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 9(2))
(a)Buses—
Class I£90.50

3. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(3))

4. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made under regulation 9(4) within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(5))

5. Fee payable for a duplicate vehicle licence (see regulation 12(1))

Revocation

3.  The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007(3) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 by increasing some of the fees payable.

For an initial application for a vehicle licence (regulation 5(3)) the following fees have increased—

(a)Buses—

  • Class I, II and III, from £85.50 to £90.50;

  • Class IA, from £97.50 to £102.50;

  • Class IIA, from £110.00 to £115.00 and

  • Class IIIA, from £122.00 to £127.00.

(b)Taxi, from £126.50 to £138.50

For a re-application for a vehicle licence (regulation 9(2)) the following fees have increased—

(c)Buses—

  • Class I, II and III, from £85.50 to £90.50;

  • Class IA, from £97.50 to £102.50;

  • Class IIA, from £110.00 to £115.00; and

  • Class IIIA, from £122.00 to £127.00.

(d)Taxi, from £126.50 to £138.50.

All other fees remain unchanged.

The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 are revoked.
