The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 5(3), (4) and (5), 19C(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 1 April 2009.
Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996
2. For Schedules 4 and 4A of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(2) substitute—

Revocation
3. The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(3) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 by substituting Schedules 4 and 4A. In the new Schedules 4 and 4A the following fees have been increased —
(a)the fees for categories A, A1, B1 (other than invalid carriages) and P are increased from £53.50 to £58.00 for a test during normal working hours and from £66.00 to £71.00 for a test taken on a weekday evening or on a Saturday;
(b)the weekday fee for category B is increased from £42.00 to £45.50 and the out of hours fee is increased from £58.00 to £62.50. The weekday fee for categories F, G, H and K is increased from £42.00 to £45.50;
(c)the weekday fee for categories C and D and associated sub-categories is increased from £61.00 to £66.00 and the out of hours fee is increased from £92.00 to £99.00;
(d)the fee for extended driving tests for category A is increased from £107.00 to £116.00;
(e)the fee for extended driving tests for category B is increased from £84.00 to £91.00;
(f)the fee for the theory test for categories A, A1, B, B1 (other than individual carriages) and P is increased from £28.50 to £30.00.
The fees for special manoeuvres tests and fees for theory tests for categories C, C1, D and D1 remain unchanged.
The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (Test Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 (S.R. 2005 No. 403) are revoked as a consequence of these Regulations.
