The Department of Justice makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 4(1) of the Access to Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 20031, and now vested in it2.

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Access to Justice (Membership of the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission) Order (Northern Ireland) 2013 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2013.

Amendments to the Access to Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 20032

In the Access to Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 (membership of the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission), in Article 4(1)(b)—

a

for “six” substitute “one”;

b

for “ten” substitute “three”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends Article 4(1)(b) of the Access to Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2003, which prescribes the minimum and maximum number of members (other than the chair) of the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission.

This Order—

  • reduces the minimum number of members, other than the chair, from six to one; and

  • reduces the maximum number of members, other than the chair, from ten to three.
