Coming into operation in accordance with Article 1(2)

The Department of Justice makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by paragraph 7(3) of Schedules 1 and 2 to the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2011(1).

In accordance with paragraph 7(4)(a) of Schedules 1 and 2 to that Act, the Department of Justice has consulted with each Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) and with each District Policing and Community Safety Partnership (DPCSP).

In accordance with paragraph 7(4)(b) of Schedules 1 and 2 to that Act, a draft of this Order was laid before, and approved by a resolution of, the Assembly.

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Policing and Community Safety Partnerships (Designated Organisations) Order (Northern Ireland) 2013.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the day after the day on which it is made.

Representatives of designated organisations

2.  The Department designates the following organisations for the purposes of paragraph 7 of Schedules 1 and 2 to the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2011:

(a)the Police Service of Northern Ireland;

(b)the Northern Ireland Housing Executive;

(c)the Probation Board for Northern Ireland;

(d)the Youth Justice Agency of Northern Ireland;

(e)the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service;

(f)the Education and Library Board whose operational area includes the council district for which the relevant PCSP was established or the police district for which the relevant DPCSP was established(2); and

(g)the Health and Social Care Trust whose operational area includes the council district for which the relevant PCSP was established or the police district for which the relevant DPCSP was established(3).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates organisations for the purposes of paragraph 7 of Schedules 1 and 2 to the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2011. Those organisations must nominate a person to attend a meeting of a Policing and Community Safety Partnership or a District Policing and Community Safety Partnership, as the case may be, or a committee appointed under paragraph 14 of Schedule 1 or 2.

Education and Library Boards were established under the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/594 (N.I. 3)) and cover the area of the local government districts listed under Schedule 1 to that Order.

Health and Social Care Trusts were established under S.R. 2006 No. 292, S.R. 2006 No. 293, S.R. 2006 No. 294, S.R. 2006 No. 295 and S.R. 2006 No. 296, as amended by S.R. 2007 No. 269 and S.R. 2008 No. 426. Each Trust has the operational area specified in the Order which established it. This Order does not extend to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, which is also a Health and Social Care Trust.
