Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2013

The Department of Justice makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by article 1(2)(b) of the Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007(1), and now vested in it(2).

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2013.

Commencement

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of article 12 of the Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 is 25th March 2013.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

This Order brings into operation the powers of a constable under article 12 of the Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (Closure of roads, etc). These powers relate to roads, rights of way and waterways.

Article 15(2)(a) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Devolution of Policing and Justice Functions) Order 2012 (S.I. 2012/2592) transferred the functions of the Secretary of State under article 1(2)(b) of the Policing (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 to the Department of Justice on 18 October 2012.
