Interpretation2

In these Regulations—

  • the Act” means the Equality Act 2010;

  • “employee” is to be construed in accordance with section 83 of the Act except that it is also to include a constable (including a chief constable) and a police cadet of a police force maintained under section 1 of the Police (Scotland) Act 19673;

  • “listed authority” means a public authority listed in the Schedule to these Regulations4;

  • “relevant protected characteristic” is to be construed in accordance with section 149(7) of the Act; and

  • “the equality duty” means the duty of the listed authority to have, in the exercise of its functions, due regard to the needs mentioned in section 149(1) of the Act.
