Interpretation2
In these Regulations—
“the Act” means the Equality Act 2010;
“employee” is to be construed in accordance with section 83 of the Act except that it is also to include a constable (including a chief constable) and a police cadet of a police force maintained under section 1 of the Police (Scotland) Act 19673;
“listed authority” means a public authority listed in the Schedule to these Regulations4;
“relevant protected characteristic” is to be construed in accordance with section 149(7) of the Act; and
“the equality duty” means the duty of the listed authority to have, in the exercise of its functions, due regard to the needs mentioned in section 149(1) of the Act.
