These Regulations implement in Scotland Commission Decision 2002/903/EC (O.J. No. L 312, 15.11.02, p.28) amending Commission Decision 96/301/EC (“the principal Decision”) (O.J. No. L 115, 9.5.96, p.47) authorising Member States temporarily to take emergency measures against the dissemination of Pseudomonas solanacearum (Smith) Smith (now referred to as Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) Yabuuchi et al.) as regards Egypt. The Regulations add Commission Decision 2002/903/EC to the list of instruments amending the principal Decision contained in the Schedule to the Potatoes Originating in Egypt (Scotland) Regulations 2001 (S.S.I. 2001/421) (regulation 2). Decision 2002/903/EC renews the framework within which potatoes may be imported from Egypt into the territory of the European Community during the 2002/2003 season.

Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Potatoes Originating in Egypt (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 13th December 2002.
