The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 166(2) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2011 and comes into force on 7th October 2011.
2. 7th October 2011 is the day appointed for the following provisions of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010 to come into force—
(a)section 157 (vacant dwellings: use of information obtained for council tax purposes); and
(b)section 158 (housing support: persons found to be homeless or threatened with homelessness), but only for the purpose of enabling consultation by the Scottish Ministers in terms of section 32B(7) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987(2).

This Order brings section 157 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010 (“the 2010 Act”) into force on 7th October 2011 for all purposes. The Order also brings section 158 of the 2010 Act into force on 7th October 2011, for the limited purpose of enabling consultation by the Scottish Ministers in terms of section 32B(7) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987. Section 158 amends the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 Act by inserting section 32B.
The 2010 Act received Royal Assent on 9th December 2010. Sections 161, 163 and 165 to 167 came into force on Royal Assent.

1987 c.26. Section 32B of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 is added by section 158 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2010.
