Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 32 of the Airports Act 1986, and after consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority, the airport operator and such of the other persons referred to in section 32(6) as he considered appropriate, hereby makes the following Order–

1.  This Order may be cited as the Stansted Airport Aircraft Movement Limit (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

2.  For article 2 of the Stansted Airport Aircraft Movement Limit Order 1987, there shall be substituted–

2.  Subject to article 3, at Stansted Airport the number of occasions on which aircraft may take-off or land shall be limited–

(a)to 120,000 in the period commencing on the date of coming into force of this Order and ending on 29th February 2000; and

(b)to 185,000 in each succeeding period of one year commencing on 1st March 2000..

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Stansted Airport Aircraft Movement Limit Order 1987 by increasing the limit on the number of occasions when aircraft may take-off or land at Stansted Airport from 120,000 to 185,000 per year. For the period commencing when this Order comes into force and ending on 29th February 2000 the limit is 120,000.
