8.  In section 23 (securing of benefits)(1), in subsection (3)(b), for “widow or widower” substitute “widow, widower or surviving civil partner”.

Paragraph 31 of Schedule 5 to the Pensions Act 1995 (c.26) provides that subsections (2) and (3) of section 23 will not apply where winding up is begun on or after the principal appointed day, which was designated as 6th April 1997 by article 2(7) of S.I. 1996/778.
