Section 16.

SCHEDULE 5U.K. The Advisory Committee

1U.K.The Ministers shall jointly appoint the members of the committee, and shall jointly appoint one of those members to be chairman.

[F11AU.K. The committee shall include one member appointed by the Ministers on the nomination of the Food Standards Agency.]

Textual Amendments

2U.K.The committee shall, at such time in each year as the Ministers may jointly direct, send to the Ministers a report with respect to the performance of the committee’s functions.

3U.K.The Ministers may jointly make provision by regulations with respect to the terms on which members of the committee shall hold and vacate office, including the terms on which any person appointed as chairman shall hold and vacate office as chairman.

4U.K.The Ministers shall provide the committee with such staff and such accommodation, services and other facilities as appear to the Ministers to be necessary or expedient for the proper performance of the committee’s functions.

5U.K.The Ministers may pay to the members of the committee such remuneration (if any) and such allowances as may be determined by the Ministers with the consent of the Treasury.

6U.K.The Ministers shall defray any expenses incurred with their approval by the committee.

7U.K.The committee shall not be taken to be the servant or agent of the Crown or to enjoy any status or immunity of the Crown.

8U.K.Regulations under this Schedule shall be made by statutory instrument and a statutory instrument containing any such regulations shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.
