Part I Amendments of Enactments
The Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981

The Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 shall be amended as follows.

In section 5(3)(b) for the words “and Wales county councils and the Greater London Council” there shall be substituted the words “non-metropolitan county councils, in Wales county councils”.

For section 31(4)(a) there shall be substituted—
a
in metropolitan counties, metropolitan county passenger transport authorities;

In section 38(8), in the definition of “local authority”, after the words “county council”, there shall be inserted the words “or metropolitan district council”.

In section 40(2)(c)(i), before the word “district”, there shall be inserted the word “non-metropolitan”.

In section 47(7) in the definition of “local authority”, for the words “a county council or the Greater London Council” there shall be substituted the words “the council of a county, metropolitan district or London borough and the Common Council of the City of London”.

In Schedule 1, in paragraph 2(2)(a), for the words “the Greater London Council or a county council” there shall be substituted the words “the council of a county, metropolitan district or London borough and the Common Council of the City of London”.

In Schedule 4, in paragraphs 2(1)(b) and 4(b), before the word “district” there shall be inserted the word “non-metropolitan”.
