6Where an accident giving rise to death or bodily injury in respect of which a payment is made under section 157 of the [1988 c. 52.] Road Traffic Act 1988, or claimed under section 158 of that Act, occurred before 1st April 1987, the amount payable shall not exceed the amount that would have been payable under the corresponding repealed enactment.
