Public assistance includes grant given by the HCA under section 22; assistance for privately let accommodation under section 24 of the Local Government Act 1988; assistance in relation to housing transfers under section 34 of the Housing Act 185 or section 135 of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993; and various other housing grants including social housing grant under section 18 of the 1996 Act.
