After section 1 insert—
General power over land

A university or college has in relation to land belonging to the university or college all the powers of an absolute owner.

The power conferred by subsection (1) is subject to—
a
any restriction, condition or limitation imposed by, or arising under, any enactment,
b
any rule of law or equity, or
c
the statutes regulating the university or college.

Omit sections 2 to 38 and Schedule 1 (provisions relating to land and the application of capital money).

In section 40 (power to transfer to university or college), omit “with the consent of the Minister”.

In section 42 (saving of existing powers), omit from “: Provided that” to the end.

In section 43 (definitions)—
a
in the opening words, omit from “unless” to “say”;
b
omit sub-paragraphs (i), (ii), (viii) and (x).

Schedule 1 (which contains consequential amendments) has effect.
