These Regulations make provision for the health and welfare of workers employed in factories in which there is carried on the manufacture or decoration of pottery or certain allied manufactures or processes.
The Regulations contain prohibitions as to processes in which women and young persons may be employed; provide for the medical examination of all persons employed in certain processes; make provision for cleaning, for the suppression of dust, as to ventilation, and as to the temperature in which certain work is to be carried on; and require the provision of protective clothing, respirators, washing facilities and mess-rooms.
The Regulations supersede the Regulations made by the Secretary of State on 2nd January, 1913 for the Manufacture and Decoration of Pottery and the Pottery (Silicosis) Regulations, 1932.
