The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 20(4) of the Civil Evidence Act 1968, hereby makes the following order:—
1. Sections 11 and 12 of the Civil Evidence Act 1968 shall come into force on 2nd December 1968.
2. This order may be cited as the Civil Evidence Act 1968 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1968.

This order brings into force on 2nd December 1968 those provisions of the Civil Evidence Act 1968 which make previous convictions, findings of adultery and adjudications of paternity admissible in evidence in subsequent civil proceedings.
