The Northern Ireland Constitution (Devolution) Order 1973

Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973, and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Constitution (Devolution) Order 1973.

2.—(1) Part II of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973 shall come into operation on the thirteenth day after the day on which this Order is made.

(2) Transferred matters for the purposes of that Act shall be all matters other than the matters specified in Schedules 2 and 3 to that Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints a day (1st January 1974) for the commencement of Part II of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973 (which deals with the powers of the Northern Ireland Assembly, executive authorities and financial matters) and defines “transferred matters” for the purposes of that Act.
