The Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 255(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following regulations:—
1. These regulations may be cited as the Local Authorities Associations (Staff Transfer etc.) Regulations 1974 and shall come into operation on 19th March 1974.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of these regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. The following associations, namely—
The Association of Municipal Corporations
The County Councils Association
The Rural District Councils Association
The Urban District Councils Association
The Local Government Information Office
(being associations the constituent members of which include councils falling within section 255(2) of the Local Government Act 1972) are hereby prescribed as bodies to which section 255(2) and (3) (transfer and protection of officers) shall apply.
