The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 4 of, and Part II of Schedule 3 to, the European Communities Act 1972, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following order:—
1.—(1) This order may be cited as the Sugar Act 1956 (Repeals) (Appointed Day) (No. 3) Order 1975, and shall come into operation on 1st August 1975.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
2. The repeal of the enactments mentioned in the Schedule to this order shall take effect, to the extent specified in column 3 of the Schedule, on 1st August 1975.
In Witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 11th July 1975.

This Order, made under section 4 of, and Part II of Schedule 3 to, the European Communities Act 1972, appoints a day for the repeal of specified provisions of the Sugar Act 1956, and of associated legislation, which will no longer be required following adoption by the United Kingdom of the Common Agriculture Policy of the European Community. These provisions include the obligation on Ministers to determine the prices to be paid for home-grown sugar beet and the power to prescribe the acreage of land on which it shall be produced.
