ROAD TRAFFIC TRANSPORT

The Transport Act 1978 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1978

Made

The Secretary of State for the Environment, the Secretary of State for Transport, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) of the Transport Act 1978, and according to their respective functions in relation to the provisions of that Act specified in this Order, hereby make the following Order—

This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1978 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1978.

The provisions of the Transport Act 1978 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) which are listed in column (1) of Schedules 1 and 2 to this Order and which relate to the matters respectively specified in relation to those provisions in column (2) of those Schedules shall (to the extent specified in those Schedules) come into force as follows:—

a

the provisions listed in Schedule 1 on 1st September 1978, and

b

the provisions listed in Schedule 2 on 1st November 1978.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force certain of the provisions of the Transport Act 1978 as follows:—

(a) the provisions specified in Schedule 1 to the Order on 1st September 1978, and

(b) the provisions specified in Schedule 2 to the Order on 1st November 1978.

Each Schedule states the subject matter of each provision specified in it.
