The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of his powers under sections 84 and 85 of the London Government Act 1963 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—
1. This order may be cited as the Greater London Council Housing (Staff Transfer and Protection) (Amendment) Order 1981 and shall come into operation on 29th January 1982.
2. In this order, “the principal order” means
3. Article 2(1) of the principal order is amended by inserting after “the Housing Act 1957”, in (a)(i) of the definition of “relevant officer”, the words “and the Housing Act 1980 or either of those Acts”.
4. Article 15(3) of the principal order is amended by inserting after “the Housing Act 1957” the words “and the Housing Act 1980 or either of those Acts”.
5. Article 17(3) of the principal order is amended by inserting after “20th December 1979,” in sub-paragraph (a) the words “as amended by Circular LHSC 1/81 of that Commission dated 22nd December 1981,”.

This order amends the Greater London Council Housing (Staff Transfer and Protection) Order 1979 in two respects. A “relevant officer” and officers to whom regulation 15 applies are no longer required to be employed only in the discharge of functions under the Housing Act 1957, but may be employed in the discharge of functions under that Act and/or the Housing Act 1980. And effect is given to a circular of the London Housing Staff Commission dated 22nd December 1981 which provides that, in certain circumstances, a person who is not a member of the Commission may act as a chairman of the Appeals Tribunal.
