The Lord Chancellor and the Lord Advocate, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 53(1) of the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 and paragraph 3 of Part I of Schedule 13 to that Act, hereby make the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1984.
2. Section 26 of the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982, paragraph 6 of Part II of Schedule 13 to that Act, and section 53(2) of the Act in so far as it relates to that paragraph, shall enter into force on 1st November 1984.

This Order brings into operation section 26 of the Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments Act 1982 which makes provision for the retention of property as security in Admiralty proceedings in England and Wales or Northern Ireland where proceedings are stayed or dismissed, together with the relevant transitional provisions.
