Paragraphs 5 and 6 of Schedule 14 to the Local Government Act 19724 (exercise of refuse disposal powers under sections 74(2) and 76(1) of the Public Health Act 1936 and charges) shall have effect as if references to a non-metropolitan county and its council included references to the areas of the following authorities and those authorities respectively—
a
a London waste disposal authority;
b
the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority; and
c
the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority.

In this paragraph “area”, in relation to the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, means the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester excluding the metropolitan district of Wigan.
