This Order prescribes Queen Victoria School, Dunblane, as a school at which the provisions for abolition of corporal punishment in section 48A of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 apply to the pupils. Queen Victoria School is an independent school most of the costs of which are paid by the Secretary of State for Defence.
Section 48A of the 1980 Act is inserted into that Act by section 48 of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986 and takes effect on 15th August 1987 by virtue of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/344).
