The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 33(2) of the Pilotage Act 1987(1) (“the Act”) hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Pilotage Act 1987 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1987.
2. Section 32(5) of the Act insofar as it relates to the repeal in Schedule 3 of section 15(1)(i) of the Pilotage Act 1983(2) shall come into force on 1st February 1988.

This Order brings into force on 1st February 1988 the repeal by the Act of section 15(1)(i) of the Pilotage Act 1983 which entitled a pilotage authority to make byelaws establishing pilots' benefit funds. Existing pilots' benefit funds continue in existence by virtue of paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 1 to the 1987 Act, and appropriate provisions after the repeal are made in respect of the Pilots' National Pension Fund by the Pilotage Act 1987 (Pilots' National Pension Fund) Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/2139).
